Gut microbiota modulations by probiotics improve inflammaging and metabolic disorders

There is increasing evidence of the health benefits of probiotic formulations, both single-strain and multistrain formulations. It is well known that the benefits of orally administered probiotics can extend beyond the gut. Among other mechanisms through which this can take place, the modulation of the gut microbiota composition by probiotics is an important one, as it can result in different metabolites being produced, and thus regulate specific host cell pathways and responses. In this context, we present a clinical study focused on the use of Lactiplantibacillus plantarum IMC 510® on weight management and metabolic improvement of the study participants, and a clinical study of a well-characterized mixture of L. rhamnosus IMC 501® and L. paracasei IMC 502®, named SYNBIO®, that improved inflammaging and the nutritional status in elderly volunteers.
