CSL USA Inc., a Sacco System company, is expanding its manufacturing facility in Franksville, Wisconsin, with new fully automated encapsulation and bottle packaging capabilities.
The investment further strengthens CSL USA’s ability to support customers throughout the entire probiotic and postbiotic development journey by bringing even more manufacturing steps together within a single, highly controlled production environment.
From fermentation to finished product, all under one roof
With this expansion, CSL USA’s total U.S. manufacturing footprint will exceed 80,000 square feet.
The Franksville facility offers an integrated process that includes probiotic fermentation, freeze-drying, blending, encapsulation, and finished product packaging, all within the same manufacturing site.
The new encapsulation and packaging operations take place in a temperature- and humidity-controlled environment maintained at below 20% relative humidity and below 68°F (20°C), providing optimal conditions to help preserve probiotic stability and performance throughout the manufacturing process.
For customers, this vertical integration means fewer logistical steps, greater manufacturing efficiency, and a faster, more streamlined path from strain development to a market-ready finished product.
Meeting growing North American demand for probiotics and postbiotics
The expansion responds to increasing demand across North America for high-quality, clinically supported probiotic and postbiotic solutions, while also helping customers simplify increasingly complex supply chains. CSL USA combines manufacturing expertise with a broad portfolio of microbial solutions designed to meet a wide range of formulation, positioning, and application needs.
The CultureScience™ portfolio includes clinically studied probiotics and postbiotics that can help brands develop differentiated products with targeted health benefits and scientifically supported claims.
The CultureSelect™ range, meanwhile, includes more than 70 standard probiotic and postbiotic strains, offering extensive opportunities for customized formulations.
With these expanded manufacturing capabilities, CSL USA can support customers in developing tailored solutions throughout the entire process, from fermenter to finished bottle.
New opportunities for Next-Generation Probiotics
The investment also opens up new opportunities for companies developing Next-Generation Probiotics (NGPs).
With the expanded facility, CSL USA will be able to support NGP projects not only through strain development and manufacturing, but also as they advance into finished dosage formats.
This capability further strengthens Sacco System’s integrated approach to microbiome innovation, connecting scientific expertise, fermentation technologies, and industrial manufacturing capabilities within a global network.
From scientific research to market-ready products
As a Sacco System company, CSL USA operates within a global organization designed to support customers throughout the entire development lifecycle.
The Group’s expertise spans scientific research, strain development, clinical studies, pilot fermentation, process optimization, formulation, industrial-scale manufacturing, and the production of finished probiotic and postbiotic products.
By integrating these capabilities, Sacco System and CSL USA can support partners in transforming promising microbial technologies into scalable, manufacturable, and commercially viable solutions for markets around the world.
The expansion of the Franksville facility marks another important step in this journey, strengthening Sacco System’s global manufacturing platform and the Group’s ability to turn microbiome innovation into real-world solutions.
