Probiotics (from the Greek pro-bios, \u201csupporting life\u201d) are microorganisms (often bacteria) which are also commonly referred to as \u201clive cultures\u201d. The FAO and WHO offer this definition: \u201clive microorganisms which when administered in adequate amounts confer a health benefit on the host\u201d. <\/p>\n <\/div>\n

Probiotics act primarily in the intestinal tract, but their beneficial effects extend throughout the body. In particular, they act wherever there is a greater bacterial load in the body. This means that in addition to the intestine, they are also active within the oral cavity, on the skin, and in the vaginal area. <\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n
